My mother is swell.
She brought me home some of those little powdered Hostess doughnuts that I love.

Ode to a Thin Mint
O D E T O A T H I N M I N T
BY ANA MARIA CORREA
Alone I sit and worry in the dark
But then remember I have something cool;
A little wafer with a velvet crunch
With flavor of the lovely homegrown mint.
Alas! Refrigerator's out of milk —
How can I cope with cookie ever rich?
Although I am not quite so very rich
As to afford refreshment in the dark,
I always need the freshest lovely milk
To slake my thirst and proffer something cool.
If chocolate goes best with vibrant mint,
Then I will want to add a hearty crunch.
Oh yes! 'Tis best to add resounding crunch
To snacks and treats that border on the rich,
And since the scouting girls all dote on mint,
I'll search and search through hourly shadows dark
For what I seek — important and so cool
That tall and icy glass of wholesome milk.
So off I go in quest of jug of milk
In order to endure the cookie crunch
Of such a wondrous thing so ever cool
And deeply dusky and so brownly rich.
I drive through lonely streets cloaked in the dark
To find perfection for my waiting mint.
At times I wish I had a money mint
(I dream as I continue quest for milk);
Financial gain to me is wholly dark
(I muse as wheels go o'er gravelly crunch).
My lot is not to be obscenely rich —
I do not need much moolah to be cool.
Arriving at a quickie mart so cool,
I pass the rows with other cheaper mint,
My mind with only one thought e'er so rich —
I gravitate to freezer case and milk
To mellow the effects of noisy crunch
And lovely chocolate so deep and dark.
Triumphant now with cool and frothy milk,
I revel in my long-sought mint and crunch
And eat my dear, sweet cookie rich and dark.

Chepstow Castle
These next two give you the view from one of the last scenes on the Carman music video.
*grin*
AARRGGGGG!!!!
I'm working on the WorkAbility database and there is a teacher whose last name is HAWORTH!!!!
WAAAAAAHHHHHHH!!!!!!
WAAAAAAHHHHHHH!!!!!!
Did I mention...
...that some moron broke off one of the wings on the little bobbly love bug that Auntie Lissa gave me?
Hmph.
I should sue.
Hmph.
I should sue.
Waaaaahhhhh
One year ago, I was in England....walking around Oxford with Bec, hanging out in the Bronte Parsonage, playing in 1,000 year old castles...
*sob*
If that isn't depressing enough, Reina was supposed to be home today but she's staying with that man until Saturday.
I told her that I don't like him very much right now.
Stinky man.
Taking away my friend.
Hmph.
Sal, I've had two cookies and it doesn't help.
*sniff*

It's another Monday
Well, some moron on the Jane board cast a slur upon James, so of course, I had to say something about that.
Hmph.
No one insults JB if I'm around.
Like the background?
Makes me think of...."the great old Chestnut of Thornfield..."
*sigh*
The Spanish exam was okay.
Not awful, not fantabulous.
And that's fine.

I'm mad
Well, people, I am mad.
I am mad because people are jerks sometimes.
I am mad because about something that basically happened months and months ago, but now I'm thinking about it.
And it makes me mad.
Whatever happened to friends being friends?
A new face comes along and *zhoom*, you are left in the dust.
You, who went through ups and downs with the person.
Bah.
I better stop.
I'm not making much sense.
It's strange how events in years past still have an effect on you.
You see a person, just on the street or something, and they remind of you someone you knew and your heart jumps.
I'm not sure if it's emotion in the moment or just recollection of an emotional time or what.
But it surprises me.
Well, I need to do my lab work for Spanish.
*sigh*

And one more thing...
Bryan is leaving the lads.
*sniff*
Wife and babies don't usually lengthen one's career in a pop group.
I wonder if the four of them will just remain the four of them or if they will get one more to make it the five of them again.
Hey, I can add.
*pats self on back*

Just had to say...
JS Bach and Chopin rooooooock.
Like majorly.
And will someone please explain to me why practically the whole world doesn't like Wagner?????????????
I mean really, people...
You go around saying that Wagner is all stormy and screechy and full of viking women, etc., etc.
I ask you - HAVE YOU EVER ACTUALLY LISTENED TO ANY WAGNER????
For Pete's sake, listen to Leontyne Price sing "Mild und leise" from Tristan und Isolde.
It's gorgeous.
Absolutely beautiful.
Nowhere near stormy or screechy.
Bah.
Poor Wagner.

The wheels on the bus go 'round and 'round
Well, people, I'm a little scared right now.
I realized that I have been slipping into the habit of daydreaming.
A lot.
And that isn't good.
Several years ago, I had a calendar, "The Cat's Guide To Love."
One of my favorite sayings from it is "If you find your head is in the clouds, make sure your feet are the ground."
I like to think that I am a fairly levelheaded person.
But I dunno.
I see that I am starting to slip into the mode that I was in late last summer and fall. I don't know if anyone really noticed, other than my mother, but she thinks I was in a state of depression. In a way, I sort of didn't say anything from early July to around October/Novemberish. It was a period of adjustment for me. My best friend got married and was gone and my other best friend was out of the country for three months. Now she's getting married in a month and she'll be gone.
Another one bites the dust.
Bah.
So, this daydreaming/mind wandering thing....
It just worries me.
And I want to read.
Like the fluff kind of reading, the escapist kind.
The kind of books that you pay $6.95 for and the kind which I don't even usually end up reading in its entirety.
I want to read Byron. And when is that ever a good sign???
*sigh*
I went to the library today and got a couple of Bronte biographies.
I did Spanish homework and listened to some opera cds.
Now I'm looking at a computer screen, at words.
Water, water, everywhere
And not a drop to drink

Rain: You are the sound of rain. You have two
important sides. There is your strong, powerful
side and your calm, gentle side. Both are very
important. Rain also reflects a bit of darkness
in your personality. It isn't bad, just shows
that along with the good, you also can see bad,
which can come in handy. (please rate my quiz)
What Sound Are You?(now w/ pics)

Hah!
You are a silver dragon. The rarest kind of dragon.
YOu are noble yet avoid humans as much as
possible. You are the guardian of the
defensless and you rule the skies.
Which Dragon resides in your soul? (cool pictures!)

Back to childhood
Well, people, I'm teething again.
My second wisdom tooth is making an appearance.
I don't think Dr.Brian will have to remove them, but if he does, I just have the two top ones and those aren't as much of a pain as the bottom ones.
*sigh*
I had tea and scone for breakfast.
I hope someone I know goes to the UK soon, because my Fortnum and Mason stock is almost out.
*sniff*

A little gossip, a little chat...
La la laaaa.
How is everyone doing today?
The weather is a little chilly over here in the sunny paradise of California.
It was actually warmer at Becca's school in MA!!!
Figure that one out!!

It was the best of times, it was the worst of times...
I'm finding out that the happiest times in life are usually coupled with a significant dose of sadness.
I think, for the most part, I can handle change fairly well. I tend to freak out after the fact. Well, freaking out for me isn't really a big dea. It's more of the adjustment in my mind that has to take place. Sometimes I feel like I'm on a kind of delayed reaction mode. Which, in retrospect, I suppose is a good thing.
I changed the blog, in case you haven't noticed.
I really wanted the Friedrich print of the graveyard, but I figured that might be a little morbid.
So I decided on Vermeer.
If you squint, the girl in the picture kind of looks like me.
*poses*
Well, I don't really have much else to say, except that I am hungry.
Food is a good thing.
